Niagara Sawmill Inc. provides premium Niagara lumber and sustainable sawmilling in the Niagara Region, specializing in Douglas Fir timbers, custom milling, and live edge lumber for contractors, builders, and homeowners.
Every once in a while, a project comes along that reminds you what community is all about. The upcoming public art installation planned for Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of those.
The team behind the Art Gallery of Niagara-on-the-Lake has been working hard to bring this idea to life. What started as a creative vision before the pandemic has grown into something that’s connecting students, faculty, and local businesses to build something meaningful for our town.
When Niagara College got involved, they reached out to local partners who could help make it happen. That’s when Cory Duncliffe, co-owner of Niagara Sawmill, stepped in to lend a hand. Cory and the team offered to donate Douglas Fir lumber to help build the structural supports for the large art pieces being designed.
“We’re just over a year in business. We want to help out in the community, and we love the idea of this. This whole area is all agriculture. Why not give something back and hopefully bring some people together with this?”
His business partner Mark Williams, who also owns Timber Frame Solutions, is ready to help with construction if needed — another great example of local businesses pulling together to support something bigger than themselves.
It’s projects like this that show what makes Niagara so unique. When creativity, education, and local craftsmanship meet, good things happen.
